Rio de Janeiro carnival is inclusive for all ages and has family orientated events like the
children’s parade and family blocos suitable for kids of all ages to get in the carnival spirit.
Although children under the age of 14 are not allowed to perform in the main parade, there is
a junior samba league called the Escolas Mirim This adorable collection of samba cuteness parades on the day after the main event also at the
Sambadromo. The Mirim schools create a mini version of the parade but with all the same
elements and judging criteria as the other leagues.
At ECR we can arrange for costumes and positions in these junior schools and for all the family to come along and cheer the kids on from the stands.
For the most part Rio´s carnival street parties are pretty raucous affairs and you may not want
to take small children to these blocos. However throughout carnival there are many daytime
family orientated street parties where the kids can come in fancy dress and the whole family
can have a great time.
We will provide guidance as to the best family blocos happening each day in the city during carnival.
At ECR we can arrange samba and drumming lessons for children of all ages either as private or group lessons. Our professional samba teachers are very experienced in teaching to young children and have developed teaching methods aiming to bring fun and games to the samba class.
